are you a
filmMaker?
If you've got a skill for storytelling and want to explore the world of documentary filmmaking, this is your chance. We're looking for young creators interested in crafting short films that explore the vibrant mix of arts, culture, and community-powered change in our town.
Join us at Creatives Now in Bolton town centre from April 2nd to April 6th for a hands-on experience led by the talented Italian filmmaker Simone Turinese.
Your creations will get the spotlight at the Bolton Film Festival in October 2024 as part of the youth strand—a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talent.
Plus, here's your chance to be the voice of youth at the Bolton Film Festival and other national festivals. If you want to get involved in masterclasses with national film festival directors and help to shape the film narrative in your town, let us know!
Invaders
a short film by Ali Ashgar for Bolton Film Festival, 2023
The title film footage of this page is taken from Roman Doherty’s short film, Human Decline, that was screened at Bolton Film Festival in 2023.
In 2023, young people from schools across Bolton worked with filmmaker Javi de Prado and Creatives Now to produce Bolton Film Festival’s first youth film offer. They used a range of AI software and effective prompts to reinvent their own photos and footage of Bolton to generate new and exciting short films.
The following young filmmakers presented work at the festival: Danielle Alalade, Ali Asghar, Hassan Chaudhry, Roman Doherty, Isabelle Gape, Tanmay Gokul, Hanna Ju, Cameron Kerfoot, Harshini Mohanraj, Fenia Nikoli, Stella Rojek and Dominique Stanton-Blackburn.
